Halloween

Trunk or Treat 09

We were in charge of Halloween celebrations this year for Bothwell. We decided on a lighted maze in the park. I think it turned out great and the kids seemed to like it and have fun! We also had a backdrop for pictures and then we just emailed them out to everyone. It was fairly easy with easy clean up! I love fall and the decor... I just wish winter didn't have to follow!

For Halloween this year the kids were....

Kristian was a Pirate

Kassie a Mad Hatter

Kambree a Witch

Gage was Spiderman

4 Great Kids

My Dad took these photos in Lake Tahoe.
Four pretty amazing, fabulous, awesome, wonderful, brilliant, & uber spectacular kids! I love em'!

Kristian 13 years

Kassie 9 years

Kambree 5 years

Gage 3.5 years

I just have one question.... how is it that they all look like their Dad? I mean seriously, you think I could have got at least one out of the bunch!? sheesh!

and so it begins....

... the "Teenage Years"!
Kristian turned 13 today... so it is official... we now have a TEENAGER in the house!
She and I took off and had a fun day of nails, Lunch, and shopping.
We came home to dinner thanks to Grandma Caroll, and then we had Cake with the grandparents before she was off to Young Women's.
(Tomorrow is "Hair appointment day"... she's going for more blonde!)

She got a cute new orange kitten from her friend Afton.... which still does not have a name! :D

She loves to read.. and is always packing her book around "just in case".... and always reading in the car. Hmmmm, wonder where she gets that from? (At least I passed on one GOOD habit to her!)

What an amazing girl... I am so lucky to be able to be her mom and to call her my friend. She is a great example to me, always kind and compassionate, a peacemaker, and generally very happy person to be around. Loves music, reading, kittens, spending time with friends, camping, scrapbooking, and organizing anything! (not to mention she is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!!! We Love You!!

A Rabbit named Rosalie???

Our last day of Spring Break was spent at Grandma Caroll's house in Syracuse. They arrived home from St. George on Sunday, so the kids were anxious to see them.
Kristian spent Spring Break with Brian, so we didn't see her til monday night..... and this is what she showed up with.
An Easter Bunny! She named her Rosalie.

......so far, Rosalie gets tons of attention, and loves..... we'll see how long she lasts! (we don't have a good track record for bunnies up here!)

Like a Bird I Sing...

Kristian's Chior Concert was tonight. She has really enjoyed Chior this semester and was excited to participate in the Concert. Grandpa Chris & Grandma Arlene came to watch too.

She did a great job and I am excited that she is experiencing and finding out these things that she enjoys.

Beautiful Green Eyes

My Beautiful Green Eyed Girl......
has been complaining that she couldn't see very well at school now for a couple months.
You would think that having a mother that has worked with eyes for several years, would make it easy to convince her that you have a problem.
But No.
It took a few weeks of complaining to convince me. I just thought it was a phase of "wanting glasses" or something.....

So I made the appointment with one of the Doc's I used to work with. And yesterday was the day..... and yes, my poor girlie is Nearsighted!

Just a little right now, but geez.... I really didn't think she would be needing glasses or anything.

So, just a mild prescription.... and just needs them when she wants to see things farther away really clearly. So yeah, when the dreaded day comes that she is driving, she will definitely need them.

The thing that really caught me off guard was how hard this appointment was going to be for ME. I has been 2 years since Lamont died, but dang that was hard! I wanted him to be there....

looking at her eyes....

sitting in that chair....

making his jokes about what things he could see in her eyes...

and talking to me.

I spent countless hours with this man in that office.

Thousands of eye exams.... and that just doesn't go away.... I re-played memories in my head the whole time... I could "hear" him talking and know exactly how and what he would say.

I could "see" the way he held the slit lamp, indirect, and the lenses that he would use for examinations.

I saw his writing on Kristian's previous exam forms.... and I could picture just how he would hold the pen and his writing technique.

I wasn't prepared for the memories...... but so grateful for them. That's all I have left.

And Thank goodness my Beautiful Green Eyed Girl will be seeing really good again....... SOON!

The Helper, Organizer, Creator....

Kristian's homework assignment last night was this.....

a questionnaire about finding the strong points or attributes in your personality. Her results....

#1 - The Helper

#2 - The Organizer

#3 - The Creator

Yeah, I could have told you that! She has always been a really great helper, she is a people pleaser.... that is a good thing, to a point, but I am constantly trying to get her to do what is right and good for her too.... not just for someone else.

She has always loved to organize things, and is quite often trying to de-clutter some of my piles of junk.... which can be great sometimes

She has always been very creative, and loves projects that let her use this quality. It's always fun to see what she comes up with, and these are the homework assignments she finishes first.

What a great girl! I love her to pieces, and I'm so lucky to be her mom!!

***SHOPPING***

wE hAd SuCh a bUsY sUmMeR!!
but because of that.... we didn't do any shopping for school clothes. I did a little on line (more for the younger kids).
Krisitan and I had a day planned for us to go together... but that was the week Kambree ended up at Primary's. She was a good sport about it, and has been wearing old clothes the first 2 weeks of school. (which really is no biggie, cuz it's not like her old clothes were old, with holes and dirty or anything) but still..... she is like her mother... and clothes are a big deal and oh so FUN! So we finally had a Saturday she and I could both GO!

KrIsTiAn invited AfToN and kArLeE to join us and we all had a great day.

We won't talk about how much money we spent.... (Cory reads this thing occasionally)
