My Quirk Tag

My SIL Amy tagged me a while ago.... I am finally getting around to it.... I actually had to think about it, and had to ask my family for help?? What is up with that? So here goes..... this is what we came up with..... my six "Quirks"........ 1. - I twirl my hair..... when I am bored, reading, or just watching TV. I twirl and twirl around one finger until it is really tight... I try to pull it through and knot it, and sometimes it works, and it's knotted all up and causes breakage, and then it ticks me off..... but I still do it. 2. - I can't stand my food on my plate to touch each other. They need to be in their own seperate area, and I usually eat one item at a time, but not always. This causes me severe anxiety at any ward dinner where they are serving you, because I can't tell the person spooning corn onto my plate to keep it in a pile, and not let it go everywhere. Or the guy serving the meat to NOT just lay it across my potatoes to save room on the plate.... it really freaks me out, and then I sit down and just look at this mess on my plate, and I have a hard time eating it, cuz I pick around food that has touched other food. I know it all ends up mixed in your stomach, but I don't want corn that tastes like red jello in my mouth! 3. - It drives me crazy to have a show or movie saved on my DVR that I have already watched. I delete right after I watch..... this drives Cory crazy because I delete something he is planning on watching... I don't do it on purpose, my fingers just know what buttons to push as soon as I have watched something, and it just happens so fast..... and then it's gone! 4. - I have to have our house picked up before bed. Sometimes the kitchen is not clean and the dishes not done, but I always worry that we will be up in the night, in the dark, stumbling around toys and crap. So 1 hour before bedtime, my kids do what we call "house clean up" and everything needs to be put away, baths and jammies on, teeth brushed, and then they have free time until actual bedtime. This is also in effect if we are leaving town and won't be home for a few days..... everything has to be put away, bedrooms neat and tidy, dishes done and the trash taken out. 5. - I hate Hate HATE to be late. It causes me serious anxiety. If we have something planned, I calculate how long it takes to drive there, arriving a few minutes early, and plan my day and how long it takes to get ready around it. Even if we are backing out of the garage or driving down the driveway and we are a few minutes late, I am.... GRRRRRR ing and HISSSSSS ing in my head. I hate the attention it draws to yourself to walk in or arrive late.... with everyone looking at you. I also hate it when people do it to me because it shows a lack of respect for other peoples time, and it's rude. (Sorry all you chronically late people) I hate missing something important or "instructions" because you are late. However I am getting better..... the more kids I have had, the harder it is to be on time. No matter how much earlier I try to get ready the next time, we still have some sort of issue that makes us late.... like "Mom... I can't find my shoe". I am trying to be better at being more spontaneous and not planning out my whole day, cuz it gets really frustrating when it doesn't go the way I planned. 6. - All the cans in my pantry and food storage area have to have labels facing OUT. It makes no sense to me to put them in sideways or backwards cuz then you don't know what you have without turning them all! It just makes sense and I don't understand why you would do it any other way...... why make things hard later????? You could so easily miss something you were looking for if you can't see it clearly.

Gosh Katie, I'd say these were talents, not necessarily quirks. I wish I were better at cleaning up each night. I just kick stuff out of the way so I have a pathway til I can get it picked up in the morning! And I wish I could be better at being on time. I plan ahead and try to give myself plenty of time, but inevitably, something always makes me late, like 'mom, I can't find my shoe'. I admire your quirks!:) Thanks for sharing.

I love your quirks! I think everyone should put the cans away with the front of the label facing outward!
