My Bedding

This is my Bedding. I saw it at ZCMI probably 9 years ago..... and I loved it. It was so expensive for us at that time, so I knew I would never have it, but every time we were at the mall, I would go to ZCMI and admire it. One of the Doctors (who was single) that I worked for bought a new house, and was busy furnishing and decorating it. We were talking one day, and he was telling me his new bed was being delivered the next week, and he wanted to get new bedding... so he was looking. I convinced him (wasn't too hard) to go to the mall at lunch and see my "dream" bedding. He loved it too, and bought it that day. I went home and told Cory about it.... kinda sad that Lamont would have my bedding... but I would not. I don't know the time frame for sure, but I really think it was only days, and I came home from work, and the drapes were hung, and the bedding on my bed. What a good husband I have, huh? We bought a king size bed 3 years ago, so I had to find a duvet that would match, so now I just fold the Queen comforter at the bottom of the bed.

The paint that I started 6 years ago when we moved in.... and still haven't finished.... really matches better than this photo shows... so don't look at that.

Anyway, my whole point.... my almost 10 year old bedding is falling apart. As you can see, I had to retire the pillowcases today. It makes me sad. I have loved this bedding, the sheets and all! Poor old pillowcases.... they have made our heads happy for so long.... you'll be missed! :(

The moral of the story..... you get what you pay for! Would walmart or target bedding last 10 + years? "(I say + ....... cuz the rest of it is still kickin')

Why I Blog

I have wanted to do this for quite a while now. Thoughts have tumbled around in my head for months. Hopefully I can do those thoughts justice...... At first I was leary about blogging for fear of the ever "time consuming monster" it could and most likely would become. But my love of family history, and desire to finish my life history won out, and I began the "Bod Fam Blog". I have been facinated by family history for years. Probably thanks to my Dad. I remember going to the Family History Library once a week when I was around 11 or 12 years old. I LOVED it, and when we would "find" something we were looking for. "some little peice of our family" Was all we needed to keep digging. As I got older, I fell in love with the stories and books from amazing people who came before me. I don't have as much time these days as I would like to read them, but like to when I can. I would love to read a blog from my grandmothers. Could you imagine reading about and seeing pictures of your parents when they were young? Not just the few that we have, but from their everyday life, and each family trip or vacation? The feelings and desires of your grandparents? Some of us lucky ones have a little bit of that, but not near what a blog can give you the chance to do. I have always had a testimony of Journal writing, but for some reason it is so hard for me to just sit down and write. But, I am at the computer every day, and that is where my pictures are, and it just becomes easier and more fun this way. So for my number one reason...... 1. I blog for me and my family. My posterity. For Documentation. My Journal. etc....

2. Obedience. My Testimony of this "suggestion" from our beloved Prophet. So I started my blog. It was fun. But then something amazing happened. You start to connect with people... not just for fun, but because of similar trials and interests. You start to learn from these people you love, or may have just met online, and you learn or talk about things you would not have normally. How AWESOME is that? I love that feeling of being understood, or you are not alone in your feelings, or that excitement when you are inspired by someone. I am blessed and amazed by all of YOU - the so strong and talented women that you are. I am inspired by.... *the way you write, and the way you can express yourselves *your compassion *the fun things you do with your families and your kids *the things you create and the imagination that you have *the solutions you have come up with to the problems many of us face *your mothering skills, and the way they inspire me to be a better one I laugh with you, and I cry with you. It has filled a need I didn't even know I had. 3. The connection I have with YOU. So three reasons. There are a few more. But these are the most important and fulfilling for me. Why do you blog?

Lava Hot Springs

Cory is finally getting caught up at work, with the help of a couple new employees, so we decided to get in another camping trip with the kids before school starts. We ended up at a campground close to Lava Hot Springs last weekend. We were there for four days, and it was so nice to get away with just the kids and have some family time and fun. Our little camping spot, very nice and shady. Why is it kids are always drawn to water.... even if they are not getting in it? Here they all are, just throwing rocks in.

It was a fun weekend despite these 5 stitches from slipping at the pool......

...... and the flat tire on the trailer on the way there! (of which I don't have a picture of, because I was busy changing it while Cory watched! :D))

The Book Review....

I purchased this book on Friday night at midnight.

I finished this book this morning at 12:30 am.

I have only seen 4 reviews so far. 2 of them were not very good...... they felt it was really bad, predictable, rushed, and that Stephenie Meyer was just writing and rushing it to get her "pay day". They also felt there was too much adult content for young adults.

I really liked this book. I was not disappointed at all, and felt there were many surprises that I didn't even think would happen in this book. I do agree that it felt rushed at the end, like she was summarizing the info she wanted in the book, and needed to wrap it up. I also felt there was some adult content..... I don't think I would let my teen read this one..... (too much detail for what happens in an intimate relationship between a husband and wife)

All in all..... I thought it was the BEST of the Twilight series. A good read I couldn't put down.

Twin Falls Idaho Temple

On Saturday August 2nd, Cory and I were able to go with the youth of our ward to the Twin Falls Idaho temple open house. We had great time, and the temple is beautiful, of course. But the best part about this experience for me, was to watch the kids faces during the tour. Most of them have not been able to go through a temple yet, other than baptisms for the dead, so they were really in awe and paid a lot of attention to the tour guide. I was especially glad that they were able to feel of the wonderful spirit that comes only from being in the house of the Lord.

After the temple tour we were able to go as a group to the Shoshone Falls. How Beautiful! I can't believe we had never been there before, and it's not that far from home! Just an amazing sight, and we were able to have a picnic dinner on the grass, up in a shady area on a hill, overlooking the falls. Just a really great experience for the youth, and we were lucky enough to be able to be there.

The Young Men's presidency was released the following day...... so it was their final activity and it was a great one to end on.

Fire Station Picnic

Thursday night was what they call "Eats Night" at the Fire Station. On the 5th Thursday of the month, for their drill night, they usually just eat and hang out. This month the families were invited and we BBQ'd burgers and hotdogs. The kids were so excited, and had so much fun. It was good to meet the other fire men and meet their wives. Put a name to a face. Daddy and Gage, with Kambree in the background. Kassie and Kambree. They also got to tour inside the ambulance, and see the stretcher, and all the kids items, with the teddy bears that they give the pediatric patients to hold if they happen to have to ride in there.

After dinner we all loaded up in the Engine and a couple of their brush trucks and headed to the church to soak the scouts after Pack meeting.

After soaking the scouts, we were able to ride in the Engine and fill up the 1,000 gallon tank with one of the fire hydrants. The kids thought it was so cool to be riding around in a fire engine. Fun night for the kids..... one they won't forget too soon.

The "Breaking Dawn" OBSESSION

So who doesn't love a good Vampire book? I have been obsessed. To say the least...... So here a few "mementos" from the release of the last book from the Twilight series "Breaking Dawn" that went on sale at Midnight last night..... or this morning..... (however you choose to look at it!) What a great time..... but we missed those friends..... *whose husbands had to have a Birthday on the release date! (the nerve!) *who had a newborn (can you believe there were ladies there with their babies? poor little ones should have been at home in their beds!) *who had to work The parking lot of the local Borders bookstore..... is not this full or crowded on a Saturday in the middle of the day! This is just a small area of the store that was this packed in every nook and cranney. Just to people watch was enjoyable...... strange costumes, T-Shirts, the young and the old..... you name it, they were there. (Yes, even a few guys) The Borders staff were just a little "stressed" , you could say. This is a picture of the lady who could not calm herself, and would yell into her little microphone telling us all to "BE QUIET" so we could hear them telling us all how to line up to purchase our books.

Right next to the phone...... that the staff never answered.

So we decided to "help".

If you called and were put on hold for like..... "Forever".......

Sorry..... we just couldn't stand to listen to that phone ring any longer!

We heard another girl close by tell her friends that her friend just sent her a text and that the books were selling at walmart too............ and NO WAITING!

So off to walmart we went too............ grabbed our books and were home by 12:45 am!

Now if you'll excuse me..........

I HAVE ALOT OF READING TO DO! I have this really good book I'm into right now.............
