This morning started out as a different Saturday morning around the Bodily household to begin with.
I was hosting a Relief Society Brunch for all of the August Birthday's in the ward. That was over and done with, and all cleaned up by 10:30 am.
I left the kids with Cory, and headed in to register my girls for their music and gymnastic classes. Afterwards I needed to run in to town to get some groceries, and as I started heading there, I came upon some smoke that was getting blacker and larger the closer I got.
You have to know that this time of year, smoke billowing up around here is no unusual thing. Farmers are burning off the stubble left after harvesting their grain crops for the year, but this particular smoke plume was blacker than usual and awfully close to some friends of ours home.
So I pulled into their driveway because she was just coming out of her back door to see what was going on.....
as you can see, the wind had turned and started to blow the flames from the neighboring field that was being burned right toward their sheds. I grabbed my camera and took some photos......
These sheds were awfully close to their home, so tons of neighbors started pouring in, and kept the house and roof soaked..... their were several spots that ash landed on their roof, and had it not been for these neighbors they probably would have lost their home too. They will now need a new roof.
Our fire department is all volunteer.... so when they get paged, they have to come from where ever they are, to the station, get their gear, and then get to the fire.... needless to say, it took them a while.
Thank goodness for great neighbors!!

The aftermath..... they lost their sheds and all that was inside, including these two trucks.
